All purebred cats are divided into three categories according to the degree to which they meet the standards for the breed. These categories are defined as early as a month after birth (depending on the breed).
The highest quality cats is called "show". The cats evaluated as show quality cats have excellent pedigree, ancestors who have reached high titles and full compliance with the standard of the breed to which they belong. These cats are most likely to have auspicious exhibition "career" and achieve the highest titles. Their prices are also the highest.
The middle quality cats are "Breed". Breed quality cats usually have minor flaws, but are suitable for breeding, so breeders are interested in these quality cats. Their genotype may be characteristic of a rare breed which can deserve further development. Out of the breed quality may arise representative cats with show quality. They can also participate in exhibitions, but they cannot expect high titles.
The lowest quality is called pet. Cats of this quality, as it's evident from its name, are designed for pets. These animals have some disadvantages that prevent them to be competitive exhibitions (non-compliant color, shape of ears, head, eye color, etc.).. For unprofessional eye these features are invisible. Breeding them is FORBIDDEN! Nevertheless, this doesn't mean that the pet quality cat has genetic or health problems. She has pedigree documents proving her health, vaccinations, microchip, and of course the pedigree. The only thing that shows pet quality is the expected exhibition "career", which is not essential for the people who decided not to deal with Felinology, and just want to take a pet! Another very important point in pet quality, is that according to the regulations of all international federations, the cat must be sold with a contract, which stipulates that the cat has been castrated. This is done to protect the purity of the breed, and avoids any undesirable and alien characteristics of the standard and unfair breeding of unauthorized people! Castration also prevents any unstable behavior of the cat such as marking, and certain diseases which may occur later.
Pet quality cats are the most affordable because their prices are generally the half of the price of a show quality cat.
